Fifth edition math, done for you

Fifth edition keeps its rules light, but the numbers still add up quickly. How many points does a 15 in Strength cost? Will four ogres flatten a level 3 party? Is the −5/+10 power attack worth it against AC 17? Each calculator here answers one of those questions in seconds, and shows its working so you can learn the rule as you go.

For players

Use the point buy calculator to spend your 27 points, the hit points calculator to plan a multiclass build, and the DPR calculator to compare weapons, feats and fighting styles. Spellcasters can check their spell save DC and the odds that a monster resists.

For Dungeon Masters

The encounter difficulty calculator rates any fight from the creatures' challenge ratings, and the XP tracker keeps your party's experience in one place. When a player asks how much their character can carry, the carrying capacity calculator has the answer.

2014 or 2024? Both.

The 2024 revision of the core rules changed a few important numbers: ability score bonuses now come from your background, encounters use a simpler XP budget, and some feats work differently. Every calculator has a rules switch, so you can follow the edition your table plays, or compare the two side by side.

Frequently asked questions

Are these calculators free?
Yes. Every calculator on this site is free to use, with no account or download. They run in your browser and work on phones, tablets and desktops.
Do the calculators use the 2014 or the 2024 rules?
Both. Use the 2014 / 2024 switch at the top of any calculator to change rules. Your choice is remembered on every page, and where the editions agree the results are simply the same.
Can I share a result with my group?
Yes. Most calculators have a Share result button that creates a short link to your exact inputs, so your party or your Dungeon Master sees the same numbers.
Where do the numbers come from?
The calculators use the game mechanics published in the fifth edition System Reference Documents (SRD 5.1 and SRD 5.2) and the core rules. See the SRD attribution page for licensing details.
